Peter Hehir
Peter Hehir was chairman of Porter Novelli International, one of the world’s top five consultancies, with 100 offices in 50 countries.
Peter worked as a journalist in Scotland and London before starting up his own consultancy in the Seventies. Countrywide Communications, later Countrywide Porter Novelli was voted by “Management Today” magazine as the UK’s best business service provider and won more awards for communication consultancy than any firm since awards began. The company was the first in the world to be awarded the international quality management standard, ISO 9002, and in 1990 the first consultancy to describe its work as “the management of reputation.”
Peter won the UK Institute of Public Relations’ annual president’s award for “making the most significant contribution to consultancy management by any individual”. In 2000 the US public relations industry named Peter “international professional of the year” and in 2003 he was among the first six inductees to the international communication industry’s Hall of Fame.
He previously chaired the UK Public Relations Consultants Association (representing 170 registered consultancies) and was president of ICCO, the international body representing more than 700 consultancies worldwide.
